Norton Ghost is a computer back-up and restore application for Windows or DOS. With this application users can create "images" of their hard drives and partitions and store them in a single .gho file. Those images can be stored on CDs, hard drives, network shares, and so on, depending on their size. They can even be split into several files or be compressed. This last feature works great with small (-700mb) images without any compressed files in it. All in all, there are many backup applications out there, but Norton Ghost takes care of business at the core of the problem. Indeed, Ghost does not just back up documents or settings. It backups absolutely everything on the selected partition or drive. So when that image is restored, everything will be as it was before. However, this application can create bulky image files when other files are left in the selected partition. Image creation can take a while, especially in DOS, but they are usually faster if compression is disabled. The same goes for image restoration. This is a great product for those who value their data and want to keep it always secure.
